  2. Thank you, tadpole, for such a beautiful song. I am away from my family today, and your christmas carol warmed my heart and made me feel a little less lonely.

  5. Tadpole’s carol is adorable! My 3 year old hung up his stocking along with his big brothers this evening, and then – looking all cuddly and gorgeous in his dressing gown – he sang Jingle Bells all by himself to the adoring audience of us and his grandparents. Magic moments.

Merry Christmas, Petite, and I hope 2006 brings everything you wish for.

  12. Oh God – it’s making me cry – or maybe that’s just the onions i’m chopping up for something or other Christmassy..

Happy Christmas, Petite. Hope you get to be with Tadpole and Jim from Rennes both. (Always tricky, Christmas. Um.)

  16. A perfectly sweet rendition of Away in a Manger. She did far better than the college lot I accompanied at the Nursing Home…which started the song harmonizing to The First Noel.

    Great encore to Twinkle, Twinkle.

    Merry Christmas.

  17. Great! I could just ‘see’ her little blonde head swaying soulfully to and fro, giving the volume several charming shifts, along with mummy’s helpful guiding hum in the middle…
Merry Christmas to you, Petite, and all your tribe.

  19. The internet is strange, isn’t it – although we do not know each other, and have never met, I do feel like I know a little bit about you through your writings, and feel privilaged to have the chance of this window into your life.

Best wishes for Christmas and the year ahead!

  21. Oh for school Christmas nativity plays with all the carols, and there’s always one who sees his mum and forgets where he is and one who wets himself, and I was ALWAYS the sodding narrator. I wanted to be an angel. Difficult to be a mum and not have the opportunity to go and watch and have a wee greet…

  22. She sounds so English! Don’t worry about her becoming too Frenchified. D’you have the french version too?

  27. How did I find your site? I’m a new reader to blogs and a friend in Hong Kong ( expat) has just started one but it’s a bit dull so I went to google.co.uk and tapped in ‘girl blogger’. Some twinkly magic dust must have been sprinkled by the webfairy because I found your blog. Spookily, your life is mirroring my own, I cant believe I have found your blog out of so many on the web. I have two children, I have a lover, I have a husband, I have a job, guilt, pain,WORRY yet utter joy when I am with him. I met him online when he responded to an article I wrote for an academic journal (I’m a uni lecturer). Anyway Petite, I am so glad you exist….. so very very glad….
I have kept all my lover’s emails and texts,(he is an immensely literate painter) and am wondering if I should start a TextBlog to share with everyone else who is going through the same experiences. What do you think? Cari

  28. Wonderful.

Of course I hope you remind her of all these little snippets when she’s a teenager….my mum has a tape of my brother and I singing when we were toddlers, and I’ve just about learned not to die of embarrassment when she plays it :)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

  34. If you’re already paying for your site, you shouldn’t have to pay for audioblog. You already have server space to upload your files onto. And, bandwidth isn’t really an issue if you’re streaming the files. Just thought I’d let you know… because el cheapo here doesn’t pay for nothin’… nada…

    happy holidays, sprout-breath!
