It occurs to me that I should have posted something especially for the folks surfing in from the bloggies site. Kind of a potted introduction to petite anglaise in 30 seconds. So, it’s a bit late in the day (voting ends tomorrow), but here is something I have cobbled together hastily as I rather unexpectedly got given work to do this morning.
Greetings! I bet you missed the very subtle link to my about this site page, located in the menu to your right. It has a blurred and slightly comical webcam shot of yours truly (not wearing satin pyjamas, but you only have yourselves to blame for that) and a smidgen of background information, should you want any.
Thirty two things will explain both why there are 32 things, as opposed to 100 or 56, and will give you a few more clues as to what I’m about. I’ve had lots of emails from boys who particularly liked number 17.
Below are links to some of my favourite posts:
- a post a day is about why I blog and what’s in it for me
- letter, is part of a three-post series on my search for my biological family (see post category: adoption)
- french kissing is about just that, but not with tongues
- métrétiquette is a part one of two posts on how to survive the Paris metro
- Wee Oui! is one of my posts on rearing a bilingual Tadpole (other posts about language and bilingualism can be found under the category ‘parlez vous franglais?’)
Question time:
I’ve never produced a FAQ because things tend to get answered in the comments box, but if you do have a burning question, fire away, today is your lucky day.
That is not a comical webcam pic! You’d never get an award for comical webcam pic! I bet even I could beat you in that category… too bad they don’t have awards for that. GOOD LUCK.. and VOTE EVERYONE…
(but, you conned me into looking by saying it was comical. If you had said it was sexy I never would have clicked… on the other hand, is this a subtle underhanded ploy to pick off more votes?… ;p)

The conversion rate from visitors to votes is very unimpressive – see fistful of euros awards for proof! So I’m not holding out any hope.
No, it’s more a case of me not having time to do a proper post today. Sorry.

Thank you for the Potted Petite despit the fact I’m not in the Bloggies or promising Satin Jimmie-Jams you’ve inspired me to do my own ‘Startling Facts’
All I have to do now is think of something interesting which may take a while..

ooooh I had never seen the “about me” page with pic… nice to put a face on a blog!
Comment by céline — February 2, 2005 @ 2:48 pm
I hadn’t seen the “About this site” page either
I always want to see what the blogger looks like. I didn’t imagine you like that, though I can’t tell you how I *did* imagine you…
Comment by witho — February 2, 2005 @ 4:14 pm
comical as in you can’t really tell it’s me, I’m attempting to be all pouty and mysterious with a great big clump of hair on my face.
I think it just looks plain ridiculous.
But I got fed up of trying after about 3 pics.
Comment by petite — February 2, 2005 @ 4:25 pm
My mental image of you was very freckly, don’t ask me why…
Comment by céline — February 2, 2005 @ 4:26 pm
NO! We love the Satin Pyjamas as I’ve stumbled across all sorts of beautiful things. Like this. Although it’s an arse trying to get to anything from Bloglines, arsey arsiness. Never seems to accept LJ, for some reason.
Anyway, whilst I’m here- largely because I can’t be bothered to write on TWO entries here- I once spent three hours confused in Lyons as to what the heck ‘Magdonnale’ was for lunch. McDonalds, obviously, but my French is almost as bad as my English.
*end of only vaguely interesting anecdote*

ha! finally managed to get onto that site to vote for you.
by the way, nice photo petite – was the gaze off screen an attempt to capture a fleeting existential moment pondering the true nature of humanity from your paris loft, or were you momentarily distracted by a passing budgerigar?
;)

I have a burning question.
Who set fire to our school chemistry lab in 1981? I often wonder.
Comment by Tim — February 2, 2005 @ 8:56 pm
My burning question…what is your favorite wine?
:-)
Comment by Bob — February 2, 2005 @ 9:55 pm
Bob: I never say no to a glass of Château Margaux with a nice ripe wedge of brie de meaux.
*heads to the kitchen to refill glass*
‘Tom’: I was probably wondering what to have for my tea. But I like your versions better.
Comment by petite — February 2, 2005 @ 10:20 pm
bizarrely enough, I was actually sure you were a brunette, with hair tied back sharply and brown square rimmed glasses… don’t ask me why. I don’t know.
Comment by nardac — February 3, 2005 @ 3:27 am
Thanks, Petite. I can honestly say I’ve never had a glass of Château Margaux.
I purchased a 2000 Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux but Wine Spectator suggests that I wait until after 2010 to open that bottle.
How much does a bottle of Château Margaux cost in Paris and how hard is it to get?

Hello, beautiful blog friend-
First, congratulations on this Bloggie run of yours. I voted for you, of course.
On another note…
I’m trying to raise money for March of Dimes: Walk America through a blog raffle. Have anything you can contribute to the prizes?? Maybe a banner or blog design? A fantastic guest post? A call-out on your fabulously popular blog? A copy of your favorite book? A cd of the most wonderful songs? Visit me if you do… or just if you want more info!
If not, no problem — but be sure to come visit (and donate if you can!) next week!
p.s. If you’re willing to link to me next week to send traffic the raffle’s way, let me know & I can send you the code for a pretty button!

Funny, I also imagined you had brown hair for some reason. In any case thank you very much for your blog which makes a very entertaining start to my day! (of course I have voted already for the SPJ).
My burning question is: what do you mean you met the Frog on somebody else’s blind date? do you have a post on that at all? Sounds intriguing..
Comment by Zebulette — February 3, 2005 @ 9:16 am
Zebulette – see this post for a full explanation!
Nardac – you got my glasses right. spooky! And today my hair is tied back. Stalker!
Bob – I’ll email you some info when I get 5 minutes.

When I imagined how you would look like, I picture you looking like Martine McCutcheon. I don’t know why…

Thanks, Petite!
By the way, I voted for you and I think your picture is wonderful.

Salut la petite!
Reading your blog is SO entertaining! You’re in some way a sort-of-not-so-exact opposite of me… I’m French-Canadian, moved to the UK to marry Mr. English Muffin.
Overall, just lovin’ your style, jealous that you’re in Paris and hey, bestest of luck with the Bloggies!

Not Stalker but Telepath!… some days I can really Jean Grey it… other days, I’m just a regular mutant with human powers. I knew, to the exact hour, when Chirac got his brain amputated.
