the definition of frustration

…is hearing indirectly that petite anglaise has been nominated for a 2005 bloggie in the Best New Weblog category, but not actually being able to access the site (bandwidth limit exceeded).

Sincere, heartfelt thanks to anyone who nominated me. You have made my day!

In the meantime, if you are privy to info about who the other nominees are among my blogfriends, please let me know via the comment box. The suspense is killing me!

Ahem. If like me you are unable to get on the bloggies site, why not exercise your voting finger here (in three categories) in the meantime? If I win anything, I undertake to post a picture of self wearing satin pyjamas to mark the occasion.

I also won €2 on a St Valentin scratchcard and received my £16.00 Ipod today. I don’t think things could get any better. Unless JonnyB finally relents and puts me on his blogroll, that is.

  1. *stops sulking momentarily to offer well-deserved congratulations*

Er… of the UK sites I remember Zinnia’s, Green Fairy, er… Troubled Diva… Random Acts… Zoe’s (I think). Claypot’s definitely, under the ‘Africa’ thingy. Scaryduck under the ‘best tagline’. er… er… can’t remember any more.

  2. I went, I saw, I voted. And congratulations on your Bloggies nomination! Others include Claypot at 360 Degrees Of Sky for best African or Middle Eastern blog, Scaryduck for best tagline, Green Fairy for best UK or Irish blog, and, er, moi for best written blog. Isn’t it exciting?

  3. Yippee! Let’s hear it for the UK bloggers!

  4. Damn code thing just ate my comment. Grr. I think mostly what I said was, Congrats! Oh and also, yes FRUSTRATION. I can’t access the site either. But then when I could access it weeks ago to try to nominate people, I couldn’t find a ‘nominate here’ button thingy. It’s a conspiracy I tell you. It’s all being run from Norfolk by JonnyB. The prize is a sheep, live or dead, your choice. So I’m in the Africa/Middle East category? What sense, they are such similar places. *mutter. could only win if there was some special wilderness category. no hope against iraqi bloggers. don’t like sheep anyway.*

  5. We’re nominated for a bloggie too (or two, since I got two emails.) It is incredibly frustrating, isn’t it?

  6. Heh heh… winner pays carriage, mind you…

    Comment by JonnyB — January 24, 2005 @ 1:57 pm

  7. Your sheep have carriages in Norfolk? Sheesh, you guys know how to live.

Petite – get yer pyjamas out. Just been to vote and it looks like you are winning in many categories. I voted for you everywhere apart from the one where they pitted you against JonnyB. That’s only fair. To give him some kind of mention I mean. (I’m really angling for a sheep. Or a sheep in a carriage. Or a sheep-drawn carriage. What’s that doctor? Time for pills. Oh alright then…)

    Comment by Claypot — January 24, 2005 @ 2:07 pm

  8. Er – is that the ‘best personal weblog’ one? No – vote for Petite in that. Mine’s rubbish as a personal weblog.

    Comment by JonnyB — January 24, 2005 @ 2:26 pm

  9. Une promesse est une promesse! (Hé Hé You’re ahead with more than 40% of the votes).

  10. Whoever the competition is, well, they don’t stand a chance.

    So say we all.

  12. Oh dear, rumour has it I am up against a professionally written blog which gets a mere 50k hits a day and a tsunami.

I think I will just stick to being flattered to be among the finalists…

  13. Congratulations Petite! I did nominate you, but in a different category, so I am glad you made it in this one so that i can vote for you!

  14. HEY PETITE! As of 1 minute ago you’re No 1 at 27.4% … closest competitor is at 14% – way to go!

  15. Hey! Congratulations! Do you get to wear a posh frock and walk down a red carpet? And all for winning an ipod? Incredible.

  16. I’m still having trouble getting on the site too, but as soon as I can, I’ll place my vote! Doesn’t sound like you really need my help however. ;)

  17. I voted for you. If only it was always this easy to decide who to vote for!

    Comment by céline — January 25, 2005 @ 11:50 am

  18. You’re not fair. I just can’t promise my readers as sexy a picture as you. I voted for you in some categories on the afoe contest and of course on the bloggies (accessible late yesterday).
Readers vote ‘versac’ in the best french weblog category.

    Comment by versac — January 25, 2005 @ 1:04 pm

  19. well, for all you lot know I could be a 20 stone fifty year old with whiskers. Or a man.

There’s only one way to find out!

    Comment by petite — January 25, 2005 @ 2:35 pm

  20. Congrats! Congrats! Congrats! All of the SEXY people here in my lab are all too happy for you. Keep up the fabulous work!

  21. Can I vote twice? Just to be sure to see you in your PJ
Versac, I also voted for you in another category and I think you should borrow Mr Frog sheep thong to waer on your picture
Best of luck to you both!

  22. If only it was actually possible to get on to the bloggies site too……

It’s been down all day. One can only wonder if the 1 Feb deadline will be extended.

    Comment by petite — January 25, 2005 @ 11:43 pm

  23. I voted for you in spite of myself. Technically, we’re competing, but a pajama photo would be a better prize than the first prize, which is currently nothing.

  24. Just went and voted. Here is a screenshot for Best Weblog:

    Comment by Katie — January 26, 2005 @ 8:01 pm

  25. petite, do you know that these pajamas come in teddybear’s size ?
    A promise is a promise.
Folks at slugger o’toole (irish) are thinking of promising they will actually show themselves in underwear if they loose. How can I fight that ?

    Comment by versac — January 26, 2005 @ 8:11 pm

  26. These AFOE awards are turning out to be way more fun that the bloggies (site still down)…… but Carniola is creeping up on me so maybe I’ll be spared the miniature pajama experience..

Incidentally, the word is spelled pyjama where I come from. Or am I going mad?

    Comment by petite — January 26, 2005 @ 9:44 pm

  27. I think it is ‘Pyjama’ everywhere…

    Comment by David K — January 27, 2005 @ 10:42 am

  28. Pyjamas = UK spelling.
    Pajamas = US spelling.

I’m more interested in how they look, than in how the word is spelled, anyway.
