Hi Catherine.. your book 'Petite Anglaise' has been on my book shelf for ages after a friend gave it to me, knowing my passion for Paris and all things French. I finally got round to reading on the train to Paris (for my annual 'fix')last week from the Lot region where we live, running our French gite business, (www.holidaysouthwestfrance.co.uk.)
Although my personal cucumstances are very different,(no kids, live in France only for half of the year, returning to the UK for winter) I've loved reading about your life in Paris and have only just looked into your blog and soooooo relieved to see that you're still writing. I've now got to go through the archives to catch up on what's been happening during the years i've missed. I suspect i'll be taking a smeaky peak at your blog when I should be working!
can't wait to finish 'Petite Anglaise' then i can search out a copy of 'French Kissing'
Bon chance et biz

Hi Catherine, I was perusing my local fabulous library in Toronto, Canada and I came across your Petite Anglaise book (filed under biographies) beside Obama's and the like with its cute yellow jacket and picked it up on a whim. I hadn't seen your blog before and I have not been able to put the book down, it was a wonderful read! I just checked your blog and I see that you are now happily married with a another baby. Congrats and thanks for being so honest in your book! Best to you.

The only blog I have ever read was my friend's adventures about the process of adopting a child from Kazikstan, so this whole blog thing is pretty new to me, but I loved your book Petite Anglaise! I bought your book from the dollar table at our local bookstore in the States (NC) since I am a sponge to anything French...I've been a French (and English) teacher for 20+ years and love France and the French language. Althought I've only visited Paris en route to other places, and for only a few days at a time, I'd love to actually live there! Maybe one day when my two daughters are out of college I can study abroad again to renew my French skills before I retire. I did live in Avignon as an undergrad for 6 months, and Tours for 2 months as a grad student, but Paris is still a destination. Un jour...
By the way, I recommend another book about France about an American who married a Frenchman and lived in Bretagne, but not in Rennes! It's called "A Gift from Brittany, " a very touching book about an female artist who forges a deep friendship with an elderly woman from the country. I also bought this book from the dollar table. Both books were diamonds in the rough as I was entranced by each one.
You are a very talented writer. Congrats on your new-found career as author of books; it will prove more lucrative than blogging I imagine! The picture of your son is beautiful. It's funny how having children of your own makes us grow up, gives us new perspective, and makes us appreciate what really is important in life.
I will look for "French Kiss' at the bookstore, and perhaps shell out more than $1.00 for it!
Sincerely,
Bonnie Estes

Strangely enough, I have just finished PETITE ANGLAISE in English, in Ireland, and (a no-longer-heterosexual male living in Rouergue) enjoyed it hugely. Homosexuality is a condition rather like pregnancy, except it lasts much longer. But the one good thing about it is that it teaches you to live 'in the sexual moment' and jettison all that romantic love crap, largely invented by 'Occitanians'. BUT WHAT I REALLY WANTED TO ASK WAS - do you still have a Lithuanian translation of P.A. ? I would like it sent to my Lithuanian internet-friend in Colorado, who has had bad luck with men, and currently is keeping at arm's length a hugely solipsistic Sicilian who wants to run her life.
